Purpose

Designed as the successor to the Phoenix I, our first flying rocket was completely designed in-house and included a much simpler system design. The avionics on board are no longer in charge of recovery and because of this Phoenix II was designed to test future flight computer architecture and software. The first flight of the Phoenix II was a momentous occasion for the team as it marked the first flight accomplished by Olin on our path to a fully sized, IREC caliber rocket. A dream to be accomplished by our future Phoenix III vehicle.
